Minister of Defence, Honourable Ambrose Lufuma, today conducted an official inspection of the ongoing infrastructure projects at the University of Zambia (UNZA). The visit was aimed at assessing the quality and pace of the works currently being undertaken by the defence wings.

The Minister was accompanied by Lieutenant General (Engineer) Maliti Solochi Commander of the Zambia National Service (ZNS), Professor Mundia Muya UNZA Vice Chancellor and Mr. John Munkombwe UNZA Dean of Students.

During the tour, Honourable Lufuma expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far. He commended the officers on the ground for their dedication and professional execution of the task. He further emphasised the importance of the facility to the student body and urged all parties involved to expedite the remaining works to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.

Meanwhile, the project has achieved a key logistical breakthrough following the delivery of 200 pipes, fulfilling the total material requirements for the remaining works. To guarantee long-term technical integrity, specialised training has also been launched for the officers responsible for installation, ensuring the pipe-laying adheres to strict engineering standards.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the University of Zambia highlights a continued commitment to leveraging the expertise of the Zambia National Service in national development and institutional support.
